02/03/2026

The VI edition of the Senate Library Colloquiums addressed one of the great contemporary challenges: artificial intelligence. The meeting, moderated by Josefa Fuentes, Director of Documentation at the Senate, invited participants to reflect on the impact of this technology on society and, specifically, on the parliamentary sphere.

On this occasion, Manuel Pereira, director of Information and Communications Technology at the Senate, and Pablo Luis García Mexía, lawyer for the Senate's Science, Innovation, and Universities Committee, shared their perspectives on the practical application of AI in public institutions, as well as a forward-looking view of its development in different areas.

The colloquium also served as a prelude to the First Conference on Artificial Intelligence in the Senate and Regional Parliaments, which will be held on February 27 in the Upper House and will explore the challenges and opportunities of AI from an institutional and governance perspective.

This session is part of the sixth edition of a series of meetings promoted by the Senate Library, in which Josefa Fuentes has moderated debates on current issues with different representatives from the parliamentary sphere.
